Las Palmas has a highly industrialised harbour just behind its beautiful beach on the other side of the Isthmus. The city and Harbour Authority wanted to regenerate it into a marina and public spaces surrounded by hotels and administrative buildings. As part of the master planning team, we made a proposal which was energetically entirely self-sufficient, using cool deep sea water, evaporation methods for desalinisation of sea water, and an off-shore 10MegaWatt vertical-axis wind turbine.
