Jonas von Stedingk operates individually or as a collaborative practice. Since leaving Grimshaw Architects in 2008, he has worked as a Senior Designer (see CV) and Consultant (see consultant CV). He engages with other like-minded designers and experts in their field to provide made-to-measure teams for each type of project, as well as consulting for a number of clients. Jonas has collaborated with architects, designers, engineers, clean energy developers, universities, fashion designers and more.
He can supply tender-ready information packages and supports procurement processes when required. The designs can be relied upon to be highly manufacturable and cost efficient, minimising design changes during technical development. He can provide strategic guidance and innovation support in a variety of different design fields.

Services provided
Design for the public realm and transit environments
Lighting, shelters, signage, information displays, benches, drinking fountains, litter bins, bollards, cycle racks – you name it.
User and operator journeys
Conceiving seamless user-journeys through transit systems and public spaces, integrating all touchpoints using a Service Design approach to optimise the experience of users, operators and all stakeholders, as well as supplying the design of the touchpoints or experiential elements.
Cultural resonance
Incorporating research-based cultural drivers – subtly and where appropriate – making the solution as resonant as possible with users through cultural rootedness.

Innovation and R&D support
Assisting new product development with user-experience perspectives and research, working upstream right from Ideation and R&D.
Strategic design and consulting
Finding the best development routes from scope definition to project structuring, cultural research, the development of design guidelines, as well as providing design input at all Technology Readiness Levels.
How we work
We all have our favourite objects that make us smile when we use them, or bring an overall experience that is just right. Human beings connect to their objects, tools, habitats, to information and communication not only through all their senses, but also with their minds, emotions, rational and irrational, with their spirits. Our minds then somehow orchestrate all this into an experience. Objects and their functions carry a multitude of messages which will engage all these different facets of our being.
When these messages are too many, disarticulated, artificially clamouring for attention rather than offering a coordinated clarity and meaning, they become irrelevant clutter.
Each new object, function or experience worth making has its own natural and beautiful solution waiting to be discovered.
