Msheireb Downtown Doha – Bollards

Suite of furnishings winner of the Heart of Doha Public Realm Furnishings competition 2013.

The scope originally required 2000 PAS-rated attack-type bollards across the site.  Trying to find a solution that would not overwhelm the streetscape, we looked at creating a warmer, more diffuse decorative aspect using a series of rings stacked over the functional substructure. We used the variation in colour tone to indicate area accenting, so that when looking down the street one would see a gradual change to a new colour scheme going over to the next neighbourhood.
